Corporate Travel Directions, Inc. is an independent consulting firm with over 30 years experience in corporate travel management. We specialize in agency selection/bids, business travel analysis, corporate travel procurement, payment system (corporate card) sourcing, travel policy development, travel technology reviews and vendor negotiations/agreements.  Our company is not affiliated with any travel agency, allowing your company an unbiased consultation.  Corporate Travel Directions offers integrated solutions and provides custom consulting services to meet your company's travel management needs.  We have assisted many organizations with their travel and entertainment program and a partial list of clients is included on this site.  Please feel free to contact us for a list of references. 

 

Edward P. O'Connor
President

Ed O'Connor, president of Corporate Travel Directions, has a broad travel management background with over thirty years of experience as a travel industry executive. This included the President & COO of one of Carlson Wagonlit's largest franchised operations. Previous positions were: Vice President Sales & Account Management for Carlson Wagonlit Travel, two key management positions at American Express, vice president of a national travel company, and over fifteen years in the airline business.

As a consultant, Ed specializes in all aspects of T & E management such as purchasing, policy development, payment methods, cost reduction, the restructuring of service delivery, and improving the operational processing of a company's travel arrangements. Ed drafted one of the very first transaction fee proposals, helped design and create one of the first global bid responses, and has evaluated travel policy for over twenty different companies. He has analyzed and compiled travel data for many major firms regarding CRS contracts, service configurations, travel agency pricing, and airline discounts. On the payment side, Ed conducted one of the more competitive studies on the Corporate Card. He also wrote one of the original "white papers" for the introduction of the Purchasing Card.

Ed has conducted educational sessions at both the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) functions. Born in New York City, he is past president of the Airline Sales Managers Association of N.Y., a Certified Travel Counselor (CTC), earned a Marketing degree from Rutgers University, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

 

Karen L. Gartz
Vice President

Karen Gartz, vice president of Corporate Travel Directions has over 23 years in the travel industry with extensive experience in such travel management elements as operations, travel technology, implementation, and corporate account management with various major companies. Before joining Corporate Travel Directions, Karen was regional sales manager on the West Coast for a well-known travel technology and software company. Prior to that, she was manager - travel services for a major entertainment company (Fox, Inc.) in Los Angeles. Karen's previous experience also includes operations management with responsibility for multiple agency locations for a large corporate travel management company. As a project manager, Karen's consulting background includes such activities as CRS/GDS conversion, travel agency selection and implementation, operations processing, vendor negotiations, and travel personnel recruitment.
